> Firesetting is the largest cause of home deaths among children.

Often the victim of any child-set fire is that child themself.

"Accidents" don't just happen - they are predictable and preventable.

One (1) of every thirteen (13) residents in our community is under age 5, that is over 7%,

an age range not served by our local fire department prevention education program.

1 in 7 doesn't speak English at home, while over 8% are 65+ and 10.3% were born outside the country. (2010 US Census)

Over 40% of juvenile firesetters are under age 5.  Firesetting is the largest cause of home deaths among children where almost 34% of the victims of child-set fires are the children themselves.

40% of set fires are by Children

Children mistakenly believe that they can control the fires that they set. Once

a fire is set, it only takes about two-

minutes for the flame from a single

match to set an entire room on fire, and less than five minutes for that fire to overtake an entire house. ”

  Smoke Alarms

Working smoke alarms in your home  double the chance of surviving fire.

if  children know to get out right away when smoke  alarms sound and go to their family meeting place, the one place outside where everyone should meet.
